Fishing Forecast Location
There is good fishing potential at Lake Eppalock today, especially if you can line up with the key solunar periods. The major bite period sees the moon underfoot. It is possible fish feeding activity could increase during this time. Storm conditions; fishing may be unsafe. Take precautions if you decide to venture out.

Interpretation
Pressure changes tend to matter more than the absolute value, especially when conditions are shifting.
Pressure is only one signal. Wind, tide, solunar timing, water movement, and local structure still matter.
Recent readings build the pressure trend used for interpretation.
Wind
Wind direction and strength can change how exposed a location feels, especially around open water, beaches, piers, and headlands.

Reading the wind
Wind direction and strength can affect comfort, casting, and exposure around this location.
Wind gusts can be stronger than the average wind speed, so it's worth checking the gust forecast if you're planning to fish from an exposed location or need to know about potential changes in conditions.
Even modest wind can affect comfort and casting, especially where the water is exposed.
The marker shows the current wind direction, while the daily outlook below shows whether conditions are likely to build or ease over the coming days.

Lake Eppalock is a large freshwater storage near Bendigo, fed by the Campaspe and Coliban rivers, and used for fishing and watersports. It has the scale and open water of a major impoundment, but also provides some good shore-based access, making it workable for boat, kayak and land-based anglers.
Facilities and boat access are spread around the lake, with ramps and family-friendly areas at Kimbolton Recreation Area, Moorabbee Foreshore Reserve, Sunset Drive, Kirrang Point and Point King. Boating, wading and swimming are permitted, and the lake is popular with ski boats because of its open expanses and quality ramps, so anglers should expect shared use, especially in warmer months.
The fish stocking and recovery occur most years. The lake has shallow margins and areas can be quite exposed. Eppalock has regained some of its reputation as a stocked impoundment, particularly for golden perch, with older fish still present.
Rocky banks, rocky points and sections of large standing dead timber are the main structure, with shallower fringes that can develop weed beds when water levels remain stable. Those shallow, rocky banks warm in spring, which can bring early-season golden perch bites. The open farmland around the lake provides little wind shelter, and the middle of the day can become difficult for boat-based lure casting.
Early and late sessions are geerally more productive. Heavy rain can discolour the water quickly, although it is relatively clear for much of the year. When the water changes it can expose or hide stumps that can become boating hazards.
Tactically, start with cover rather than open water. Bays and inlets dotted with trees are useful because they provide shelter from ski traffic and hold fish around stumps and weed beds.
Casting lures around stumps, weed edges and shallow cover is effective, with golden perch frequently holding close to weeds in quite shallow water. Steep rocky points are also worth fishing because they create ambush positions.
Redfin and golden perch can be targeted by trolling deep-diving lures, while redfin also respond to small minnow-style lures trolled in the shallows and around weed beds.
For bait fishing, small yabbies, live minnow and scrub worms for golden perch and redfin, with corn kernels noted for carp. Trout are a cooler-month option around the river arms, through lure trolling or mudeye fishing, and the tailrace below the wall can fish well for trout when the lake is full and the weir overflows.
No. Because a forecast cannot truthfully guarantee whether fish are biting at a specific spot right now. Getfished shows the current fishing conditions instead: tide movement, solunar timing, weather, wind, pressure, marine conditions and fising report, derived, species history.

Fishing report summaries are derived from Getfished’s structured fishing report database system. More information on this on how we collect and structure fishing report data can be found on our Fishing reports information.
Forecasts are based on the Getfished Meteorological and Solunar Forecasting System, which combines data from the BOM, and other sources. Our custom software systems use these inputs to establish solunar, tides and other forecasts for fishing conditions.
