Fishing Tide Times, Solunar, Reports
Today's Hastings Pier fishing forecast looks quiet overall, though the best solunar period may still offer a short window of activity. Because of the moon being overhead, the bite time currently forecasted offers potential for increased fish feeding activity. Low light conditions may improve feeding activity.

7 Day Tides
Today's Tides
The tide is currently rising
The tide is rising across Western Port as incoming water increases depth through its channels, flats and shoreline areas.
Increasing depth may allow fish to move from channels onto flooded edges and flats to feed.
Strong tidal currents can occur in Western Port, particularly around channels and constricted passages. Check local conditions before fishing or boating.

Pressure
Pressure is most useful for fishing when it shows movement. A stable, rising, or falling trend can add context to the rest of today’s fishing forecast.
Right now
Interpretation
Pressure trend is still building from recent samples. Current pressure is available, but there needs to be more readings before it can be interpreted.
Pressure is only one signal. Wind, tide, solunar timing, water movement, and local structure still matter.
Recent readings build the pressure trend used for interpretation.
Wind
Wind direction and strength can change how exposed a location feels, especially around open water, beaches, piers, and headlands.

Reading the wind
Wind direction and strength can affect comfort, casting, and exposure around this location.
Wind gusts can be stronger than the average wind speed, so it's worth checking the gust forecast if you're planning to fish from an exposed location or need to know about potential changes in conditions.
Even modest wind can affect comfort and casting, especially where the water is exposed.
The marker shows the current wind direction, while the daily outlook below shows whether conditions are likely to build or ease over the coming days.

Marine forecasts are guidance only. Conditions can change quickly on exposed water.

Marine interpretation
The wave conditions appear relatively calm in the currently available marine data.
Marine caution
Higher waves suggest a conservative approach, especially in exposed areas. Forecast wave heights are averages rather than peak conditions. Individual waves may exceed the forecast height at times. Wind and local chop can quickly affect comfort and control. Wave period around 11.8 s can influence how conditions feel on the water. Conditions in open water can change quickly, so keep checking throughout the session.
Water temperature
Water temperature is around 12.6 C, making immersion a more significant factor to plan for. Cool or cold water can affect grip, coordination, and swimming ability. Hypothermia is a real risk, particularly if you become immersed in the water. Wind and rough water can increase the impact of an accidental immersion.
Check local marine warnings, ramps, vessel limits and current conditions before heading out.

Today's sunrise is 6:55 am and sunset is 5:49 pm. As a general guide, the hour before and after sunrise and sunset are often among the most productive fishing periods. No high tide or solunar period falls within the sunrise or sunset fishing periods today, so the other listed bite windows may provide better timing guidance. The sea-surface temperature is 12.6°C, some species may be less active in cooler water.

Hastings Pier is on Western Port Bay and is easy to reach from Skinner Street in Hastings. Shore anglers will find it convenient, with parking and public toilets nearby, plus more facilities at Fred Smith Reserve. You can target snapper, King George whiting, flathead, silver trevally, salmon, and squid here, so bring the right gear and bait for these fish. The pier is a good option if you don’t have a boat, but the railings can make setting up rods a bit awkward. Before you start fishing, think about where you’ll put your gear.
Tide and light matter when fishing here.
Try casting to sandy spots for bottom-feeding fish, and look for structure near the pylons or in the shadows under the lights.
When fishing for gummy sharks at night, plan for landing bigger fish and use heavier baits. Cast towards structure instead of always fishing the same way. Use pipis, Bass yabbies, or squid strips in sandy gaps, and try fishing close to the timber near the pylons. After dark, squid jigs work well around the edges of the pier lights. Soft plastics and metal lures can also be useful when fish are moving through, but keeping control of your bait during tide changes is still important.
Using a rod holder or a protected rod rest can help with the railings. It’s also smart to bring a drop net for bigger fish, especially if you’re fishing at night or targeting gummy sharks.
Remember to follow local fishing rules and etiquette on the pier. Clean up your bait and rubbish, give other anglers enough space, and be respectful when casting or using more than one rod. Check the signs for any special rules, like bag limits or seasonal closures, to help keep the pier safe and welcoming for everyone.
No. Because a forecast cannot truthfully guarantee whether fish are biting at a specific spot right now. Getfished shows the current fishing conditions instead: tide movement, solunar timing, weather, wind, pressure, marine conditions and fishing report derived species history.

Fishing report summaries are derived from Getfished’s structured fishing report database system. More information on this on how we collect and structure fishing report data can be found on our Fishing reports information.
Forecasts are based on the Getfished Meteorological and Solunar Forecasting System, which combines data from the BOM, and other sources. Our custom software systems use these inputs to establish solunar, tides and other forecasts for fishing conditions.
