Beaumaris Jetty Fishing Times, Tides, Weather & Reports

Beaumaris Jetty has a favourable fishing forecast today, especially around the stronger solunar bite times. During the major period, when the moon is overhead, the stronger bite time is worth considering if you have time to go out fishing today. Passing showers; short windows of opportunity between rain.

Pressure

Barometric pressure

Pressure is most useful when it shows movement. A stable, rising, or falling trend can add context to the rest of today’s fishing forecast.

Rising

Interpretation

Pressure changes tend to matter more than the absolute value, especially when conditions are shifting.

Pressure is only one signal. Wind, tide, solunar timing, water movement, and local structure still matter.

Reading the wind

Wind direction and strength can affect comfort, casting, and exposure around this location.

Wind gusts can be stronger than the average wind speed, so it's worth checking the gust forecast if you're planning to fish from an exposed location or need to know about potential changes in conditions.

Even modest wind can affect comfort and casting, especially where the water is exposed.

The marker shows the current wind direction, while the daily outlook below shows whether conditions are likely to build or ease over the coming days.

Marine interpretation

Wave: caution Water: cold

Marine conditions appear manageable based on current wave readings.

Marine caution

Higher waves suggest a conservative approach, especially in exposed areas. Forecast wave heights are averages rather than peak conditions. Individual waves may exceed the forecast height at times. Wind and local chop can quickly affect comfort and control. Wave period around 6.90 s can influence how conditions feel on the water. Conditions in open water can change quickly, so keep checking throughout the session.

Water temperature

Water temperature is around 12.2 C, making immersion a more significant factor to plan for. Cool or cold water can affect grip, coordination, and swimming ability. Hypothermia is a real risk, particularly if you become immersed in the water. Wind and rough water can increase the impact of an accidental immersion.

Check local marine warnings, ramps, vessel limits and current conditions before heading out.

Beaumaris Jetty Fishing

Beaumaris Pier Fishing Guide

Beaumaris Jetty is a small public pier beside the Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron on Pelican Quays. You’ll find it close to the boat ramp on the metro side of Port Phillip Bay.

Since the jetty is small and sheltered, space and access are important. The lower car park is for BMYS members only, but you can park on Beach Road, Ray Street, or Charman Road. From there, walk down Pelican Quays to reach the jetty. Use the small public gate next to the Squadron to get in. Please avoid member-only areas, keep the place tidy, and take care when going through the gate at night, especially if you have a long rod.

This spot is ideal for gentle, precise fishing in clear, sheltered water. You can catch squid, King George whiting, flathead, Australian salmon, and garfish here. Squid and whiting are especially popular at night. Knowing which fish are around helps you choose the right jigs or bait. Night fishing is often better because there is less boat and foot traffic, and the pier lights, pylons, and weed edges are easier to fish. The jetty is protected on most sides, which is helpful when other metro piers are too exposed. Be careful with southerly winds, as they can make the water rougher and harder to control your line. Clean water is important, especially near the lights and where the weed meets the sand.

Getfished garfish fishing reports suggest some anglers are doing quite well for that species here.

Long-distance casting doesn’t work well here.

Begin by fishing close to the pier, then try along the edges of the lights, around the pylons, and near small weed breaks or darker weed-and-sand lanes next to the structure. Short, controlled casts work better than trying to cover the whole area at once, especially if there are other anglers or boats nearby.

It can get crowded; it’s not a big jetty, so respect for other anglers goes a long way. Give other anglers some room to move, and don’t cast over them.

If someone is landing a fish or dealing with a snag, wait until they finish before you cast. Being friendly and checking in with others helps everyone enjoy their time.ing-reports/squid/) In fishing, a good approach is to let your jig settle, then use small lifts and pauses, and watch your line carefully rather than retrieve quickly.

If the water is clear, slowing down usually works better than changing your lure right away. If the water is murky, making your setup more visible can help, but careful control is still important in the tight space. A light setup is enough when conditions are calm. I have found a 2500 reel, a light-braid line, a fluorocarbon leader, and size 2.5 squid jigs to be an ideal kit for this location. A size 3.0 jig can help if you need more casting distance or a bigger profile, but avoid using anything too large here.

Bring a landing net since the area is small, and you may have to deal with wet surfaces, other people, boats, fences, and tricky rod angles near the pier.

Take care on the pier, as it can get very slippery when wet or at night. Watch for sharp drop-offs at the edge and keep an eye out for boats moving near the jetty, especially by the boat ramp. When you leave, break down your rod or hold it carefully as you go through the small gate so the tip does not hit the fence or gate frame in the dark.

Can Getfished tell if fish are biting at Beaumaris Jetty, today?

No. Because a forecast cannot truthfully guarantee whether fish are biting at a specific spot right now. Getfished shows the current fishing conditions instead: tide movement, solunar timing, weather, wind, pressure, marine conditions and fising report, derived, species history.

Use this information to make informed decisions about where to fish, and to compare conditions across nearby locations. We hope you enjoy using Getfished to find your next great fishing spot!

Fishing report summaries are derived from Getfished’s structured fishing report database system. More information on this on how we collect and structure fishing report data can be found on our Fishing reports information.

Forecasts are based on the Getfished Meteorological and Solunar Forecasting System, which combines data from the BOM, and other sources. Our custom software systems use these inputs to establish solunar, tides and other forecasts for fishing conditions.
